Volunteering at
Banshee ReeksObjectives of Park Volunteerism
- To develop an effective and productive volunteer force that supports the operations of the nature preserve.
- To help make improvements that are not otherwise possible.
- To provide people with interests in the world of nature to get together to share those interests and learn from each other.
Performance Standards
- As a member of the team, you will be expected to work a schedule mutually agreeable to you and your work area supervisor.
- The same standards of performance are expected from volunteers as are expected from employees.
VIVA Program
Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve is able to provide additional programs because of the Visitor Information Volunteer Association (VIVA) program. The VIVA volunteers run the visitor’s desk, answer questions about Banshee Reeks, hold guided walks on the trails and many other tasks.

Volunteer Day
For clean-up, fix-up tasks volunteers are welcome the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9 am to 1 pm.
How to Join Up
Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve strives to provide a balance between volunteer desires and the needs of the park. We will make every effort to match your interests and skills with current openings

- Upon acceptance, attend Staff "Basic" Training, a three-hour workshop
- Be willing to attend occasional meetings and refresher training
- Training Dates: As needed. Usually every three to four months.
